untitled 302...sketch
I have made a few pieces like this in the past. I keep getting drawn into this shape. I have decided to make another one and focus on the very small details of the piece. I will be using double digit 0 round reed with very small intricate vine. I usually incorporate sea grass into my forms but I am uncertain at this time what other materials I will use. This was a quick sketch of the form that has haunted my mind over the last two years.

untitled 301...sketch
This is the first sketch of my most current creation. I am playing with the proper balance on this one. Lots of angles and the whole piece needs to look cohesive from all sides. I estimate the final size to be around 14" x 18" x 6" (woven).

introduction
Let me
introduce myself; my name is Jen. I have
been weaving fine art sculptures for over 21 plus years. During that time, I have displayed in many
galleries as well as fine art juried shows.
I have won several awards and I have taught the skill of weaving baskets
and pods in many local colleges and private instruction. I currently work for an advertising agency
during the day. The evening and weekends
are for fine ART. It consumes my day to day
thoughts in every aspect. I live in a
wonderful house with Brad, the love of my life, and two beautiful little girls,
Shannon and Kayla. Our family life is
filled with art projects and creation. The
kids love it. I love it. Best part of all, I have taught the girls to truly
appreciate all that nature has to offer.
To analyze earths natural forms and expand on its beauty. Not break or change nature’s forms, but to
build off of what has already been. Some
days, I take the girls on walks to collect.
We have boxes and jars of everything found and we sculpt. We don’t buy kit crafts for kids (almost
never). We make everything ourselves
from the ground up. It gives them a
sense of what true art is about and I am in heaven for it. I couldn’t be prouder of them and how
talented they are.
I decided to
continue updating my works on this blog.
It’s a project I started many years ago and feel it is time to post
again. So here it goes, let me blog some past and move onto the present/future. Works are soon to follow.
